Patriot’s Day Celebration

The fourth Patriot’s Day celebration in Apalachicola not only features one of America’s premier war and foreign correspondents as guest speaker, but a book signing and Cajun cookout as well. The event will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Plaza, the home of the Three Servicemen, Detail, Statue. Guest Speaker Joe Galloway is the co-author of ‘We Were Soldiers Once – And Young’ which was made into a critically acclaimed movie starring Mel Gibson. The Bronze Star recipient is the only civilian during the Vietnam War to have been awarded a medal of valor, after rescuing wounded soldiers under fire during the Ia Drang Battle.
